Very interesting game that really could do with a significant remake.
I think it's a unique style or a known style with an orientation twist.
I spent hours on it. Even though eventually i hacked the code to get lots of "the hardest to earn currency" I dont think there was an endgame state to be had. Ah, and using ye olde adventure game studio to make it was very clever, in my not-a-game-dev opinion.
:)
I also remember playing LA SOL so long ago. Probably only found it from AGS website at the time. GRBLEX was interesting as well.
Good to hear you liked the game (even if my reply is very late, I really should log on to itch more often...)
And yeah, the game is a bit crude and repetitive. It was designed to kind of emulate slot matchines with the constant risk taking and repetition, as the game was developed for a contest with the theme of gambling. I'd really like make a sequel to it one day, with more fleshed out story and characters and more mechanics to make it more varied.
As for the game, there is an ending to be found, though it would take quite a bit of effort and repetition and risk taking to reach it, so I'm not surprised if not many people made it that far.
And great to hear you found La Sol! Do check out my other games as well, such as GNRBLEX, if you haven't already. It's even on Steam as well as on here!
Good game so far, but there was one major issue: when you run into a mermaid that gives you air, the [make for surface] and [dive deeper] buttons don't come back after the event, leaving you stuck on that screen
Thanks for letting me know! If this happens, you can press P, as instructed in the readme document, to try and reload the action buttons. Sorry for the trouble, I'll try to get a patched version up for download soon.
I went over the code and figured out what was causing the issue you encountered. I just released a new version, which you can download from the game page, which should resolve the bug.
